Cambodia-Business as Mission

The Business as Mission (BAM) position will use their business education and experience to support holistic, church-planting teams by creating for-profit businesses that will provide jobs and economic benefit to unreached people groups in Cambodian communities.

This innovative business professional will join the church-planting team and will research and launch small businesses and mentor small business owners, adding immense value to the communities served and providing a valid platform for mentoring and discipleship ministries among nationals.

The ideal candidate will have business experience and good business acumen. The choice of business opportunities will be dependent upon skills, interests, and experience and will support the identified needs of the host society.

While an advanced Business degree is not mandatory, it is essential that the BAM worker have a good understanding of how to conduct business with a focus on fiscal responsibility and being people/relationally oriented and have a firm grasp of the concepts of Business as a Mission (BAM). This position requires at least a five-year commitment.

The BAM worker will plan, implement, and grow businesses in Cambodia. This includes:

  • Living among an unreached people group, learning their culture, and developing proficiency in the native language
  • Working collaboratively with a church-planting team
  • Establishing viable business plans
  • Gathering investment capital for the business and its expansion
  • Providing visas for colleagues
  • Training staff – developing positive, gospel relationships with them
  • Developing company policies and protocols
  • Establishing a healthy customer base
  • Incorporating God-honoring principles throughout the businesses
