People Groups
World Team is a global mission agency working in a growing number of unreached people groups, cities, countries and regions to plant reproducing churches, with the ultimate goal of reaching the unreached of the world.
Below are profiles of many of the countries where we have ministry opportunities. If you don’t find the people group or country you are looking for, please contact us!
Central Asia – The Uyghur
God is moving in the hearts of people to reach Uyghurs in Central Asia – The Uyghur people are a Turkic people, with a culture and language very similar to other Central Asian peoples. They are a hospitable people, who do not hesitate to invite someone in for tea, naan bread, or an entire meal. Their Muslim faith influences their identity despite their tendency to be less devout.
Central Asia – The Uzbek
The Uzbeks are a Turkic people with a rich history throughout Central Asia. For them, to be Uzbek is to be Muslim. Their ethnic identity and religious identity are very intermingled. Uzbeks are a hospitable people who are always happy to share naan and tea with guests.
Chad
Fields Ready for Harvest – There are 24 unreached people groups in the Guera that are all in close proximity of one another. Many of them suffer from a lack of clean water, health facilities, and education, issues that are pervasive throughout the country.
Chinese – Hidden People of Peru
Chinese – Hidden People in Peru – There are less than 1,000 believers among this first generation Chinese in Peru, and only two Chinese churches in Lima with about 150 worshippers on Sunday. Even at 1,000 believers, less than 1% of the Chinese population in Lima profess Christ. The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few!
France
Sowing Seeds of Hope – A multi-cultural team of North American and European workers, and French church leaders, form a team known as France V.I.E. This is a play on words, “VIE” which means life, yet the initials stand for “a vision to plant churches.”
Germany
Germany is the most populous member of the European Union and has massive influence in Europe and on the global scene. It is geographically located in the center of the continent. As a major economic and political power, Germans have developed a very high standard of living. It is home to many influential philosophers, composers, scientists, and inventors; and is known for its rich cultural and political history.
Indonesia
An Island of Change – Papua, once called Irian Jaya, is the eastern-most province of the Indonesian archipelago. Papua’s rugged jungle and swamp terrain is home to an incredible diversity of flora and exotic animals.
Italy
A European Cultural Center – As the heart of the Roman Catholic Church and witness of the birth of Christendom, Italy has deep religious roots.
Italy – Milan
Hope for Milan – World Team has been church planting in Italy since the 1970s. Our team in the northern city of Milan uses creative methods to build bridges for the gospel, like park outreach events, art exhibitions, and children’s programs.
Manaus, Brazil
More than 100 people groups in Brazil have never heard the gospel, largely due to geography or policies which isolate them from the outside world. There is little to no evangelical presence working among this population. Locals refer to them as “the invisibles” or “hidden” people. World Team, in partnership with other like-minded agencies, is committed to reaching these migrant populations.
