Darkness to Light – Siud’s Story
Siud sat on a ridge, thinking, where he could see the sharp mountain ranges of his tribe’s area of Papua, Indonesia. He was just a boy. No one from outside his world knew the Kimyal tribe existed, and the Kimyal knew nothing beyond their world, either. Siud was next in the line of many generations of strong shaman (witch doctor) chiefs. Siud’s father had begun to train his boy to take his place. “I can’t do it,” Siud decided. “Why must we do all of these hard things so the ancestor spirits will not harm us?”
