Fulbe Team Leader-Cameroon

The person in this role will partner with mature Fulbe believers and missionaries from various cultural backgrounds and mission groups. Their primary purpose will be to equip Fulbe church leaders to train their people in evangelism and discipleship, while also promoting community development and educational initiatives. This individual will coordinate WT’s team and project funds and maintain regular communication with other missions serving among the Fulbe, fostering collaboration and shared vision wherever possible.

To effectively equip Fulbe leaders to evangelize and disciple their own people, the team leader—together with other church planters—will live among the Fulbe, intentionally learning their language and culture while providing ongoing leadership development. This role is focused on ministry among the Fulbe, a predominantly Muslim and unreached people group.

This position requires a vibrant and committed spiritual life, characterized by consistent practice of the spiritual disciplines. The Team leader must have a solid understanding of Scripture and the ability to teach and clearly communicate how the Old Testament points to the person and work of Jesus Christ. Patience and dedication are essential, as the Team Leader will need to faithfully and accurately communicate with the Fulbe in their native language.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Biblical Studies BA or equivalent experience
  • Three (3) years of church leadership experience (preferred)
  • Experience with evangelism and discipleship
  • Willingness to commit at least 10 years to the project
  • A solid commitment to the spiritual disciplines (i.e., Bible reading, prayer, etc.)
  • Aptitude to become proficient in the Fulfulde language (spoken by the “Fulbe” or “Fulani” people)
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • The ability to wisely handle money

The Fulbe Team leader will work with a multicultural team and collaborate with multi-mission partners to equip Fulbe believers to establish and lead healthy, self-sustaining Fulbe churches.

They will:

  • Hold a degree in Biblical Studies or possess equivalent ministry experience.
  • Have a minimum of three years of church leadership experience (preferred).
  • Demonstrate experience in evangelism and discipleship.
  • Be willing to commit at least ten years to the project.
  • Maintain a strong personal commitment to the spiritual disciplines, such as regular Bible study and prayer.
  • Coordinate WT’s team and Fulbe project funds.
  • Communicate regularly with other missions serving among the Fulbe, seeking collaboration whenever possible.
